My logo

Tried this thing out at http://www.good-tutorials.com - they've got these really cool photoshop tutorials.. So tried creating a logo for my blog, but unfortunately, this blessed site doesn't let you customize that part of the site! You've gotta go with what they force down your throat! SUCKS!!! Well here it is anyway.. Figured after all that "HARD" work I'll atleast upload it as a post.. Let me know what you think..

Home..

Been taking some pictures around the house - considering it's gonna be no more in a while. Making way for development (???).. yeah right! Oh well, what's to be done.. You can't have everything the way you want it. Had that been the case I'd have the money to buy the house myself and restore it to what it could be. Maybe there's supposed to be some good in this whole exercise - they say that everything happens for a reason. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. It'll definitely be sad to see this go - you'll know what I mean when you see the pics:

That's the sitting room - everything as it is.. Not arranged for the photograph or anything. Just natural.

The banister of the staircase - it's a bit blurred cos I was holding the camera in my hand with a pretty slow shutter.

The cupboard in the office room - where I spend most of my time. Not the cupboard but the office room!!

The mess on the office room windowsill.. Absolutely love to sit where the pic is taken from and look out of the window - n just stare into space - preferably when I'm studying :)

A panoramic shot of home - focusing more on the verandah than the house itself

The front room window opening into the verandah.

What you would see of the porch from the verandah.

This is what you'd see when you walk out through the side door.

The verandah from the sitting room..

Looking from my chair in the office room - straight thru the sitting room and into the verendah.

The head of my mum's crystal whiskey decanter

What you'd see when you walk out of the side-door and look straight ahead of you..

The front of the house - outside the sitting room.

The windows of the office room and the porch on the side of the house. The door in the pic leads to the billiard room

My 'house' - the officeroom :)

What the araliya tree outside the office room would look like if you looked at it from the bottom upwards.
The verandah from the drive way.

The front of the house and the drive way

The two cars in front of the garage, under the mango tree and coconut tree.

The front of the house and looking up to the sky.

What you see when you walk in from the front gate.
Bay windows in the sitting room looking out into the garden
Whoever who came up with this idea for a boundary wall had to be a sadist - at least in his last birth.

Standing on the steps to enter the house, looking at the gate.

Same thing - different day.
Same thing, same day - less light.

Looking at the gate from the garage. The blue house is a clinic of sorts and then there's the Lucky Plaza apartments in the background.

Part of what you see from the gate as you enter - depending on where you're looking that is.

Sunlight streaming through the trees on a hot afternoon.

A creeper going up a coconut tree in our side-garden.

Dried branches.

The pantry - with the sink in the far left and the kitchen in the background.

That's what the pantry would look like if you looked at it from where tea is made.

What you see of the kitchen - peeping through the pantry door..

The piano room

The front door

The Maruzook dining table and fridge - with a Cake Factory Love Cake peeking into the picture as well on the bottom left

The sitting room - by night

Looking up..

The sitting room - by night again.. Just from a different angle..

Looking up the road from just outside No 16

Light in motion

The moon - trying its best to come through the clouds and the trees

Looking down the road from No 16

The front of the house by night.. Exactly what you'd see if you walked in..

Just so you know, this is the house I've lived in all my life - from the time I was born, to going to nursery, to schooling at Belvoir, through 4 years of SLIIT (uni) and a year at work.. And now it's apparently gotta go - giving way for a 20 st0ry block of apartments... I guess there is some good in it but I know I'd still be pretty sad to see it go.. I guess that's what life's all about.. Change.. And then adapting to that change..

Wildlife @ Deal Place

Whoever said you need to get out of the house to see some wildlife?? Take a look at these n you'll know what I mean..

Check this guy out!! Monster of a katussa - or for you suddhas (or Kalu-puka suddhas as the description may seem fit) it's more commonly known as a Garden Lizard. Believe it or not - our cat Snowy carried this guy in - in his mouth! I obviously didn't get that close to it.

Check out the length!!

He's the cat who brought that katussa into the house. Bit of a weird cat this one.. Got one eye that's blue and the other one that's brown. And then to top things off.. Apparently one can't say if it's male or female! Cos it seems to have genitalia of both! Quite a character none the less (might be due to being a hermaphrodite).. If it sees anything moving it immediately pounces on it. Cockroaches, geckos you name it! It loves to go underneath the kitchen sink and catch the cockroaches there.. It'll catch them, hold them in its mouth n then put them down to see if they're dead. The second they move - plop! In its mouth again!! And then sometimes it lets things go, n then gives himself (or herself) a challenge.. Lets them go a little far away.. N RUNS after them to catch them again.. Hehe.. Very simply called 'Kitty'..

Talaal woke up one morning n decided to play around with my camera. Found this woodpecker just outside our window.

Like I was saying - he was playing around with the camera - n he set the ISO to 800. Hence the graininess. We've all gotta learn somehow!

The benefits of a super-long zoom..

This squirrel just loved to pose he said :)

The damage that the woodpecker did..

This pic was taken last morning.. It was a poya so the whole area was nice n quiet.. A whole bunch of magpies just descended on us

Another one of them - looking for breakfast

Thought

This spider had spun its intricate web in the verandah - between one of the chairs and the pillar.

Another katussa - just love the way I've been able to focus on it and get as much detail as the scales on its body!! No I'm not praising my own tail here - I'm just in surprised at how the pic came out :)
